Our mission

is to help every child in South Africa to fully realise their schooling opportunity by ensuring they receive nutritious meals, clothing, and equipment thereby enabling them to become proud and productive South Africans.

About us

Joyful Meals Voluntary Meals Program is a registered NPO in South Africa since 2021. Registration 265-806 NPO (27-Sep-2021).

Our story

We've been operating since early 2020 providing meals to kids in Diepsloot Gauteng, during the harsh times of lockdown. During that year, we provided about 1500 meals per week to over 150 kids across various day cares and orphanages. More recently, we focus on assisting kids with their schooling requirements in the form of stationery and clothes.

We also run several events throughout the year giving the kids much needed attention in the form of christmas hampers, easter packs, and others. Working with corporates, we also facilitate corporate hampers and gift packs where the corporate' staff can contribute to enriching our kids' lives.

Our team

Our small but dedidated team is led by Lingas Reddy and Kerry Hofmeyr. Each event brings in various volunteers from school students to parents to casual contributors to corporate staff. We are always looking for people to join us on various events, in whatever way they can contribute.

Our values

We believe donor contributions should almost entirely benefit the recipients, therefore we prefer to work with volunteers and donors who contribute wanting to improve the lives of our children.
We value transparency in how funds are dispersed, and try to avoid admin costs like salaries, fuel, and sundries. These costs are mostly bourne by the volunteers as part of their contribution.
Our target beneficiaries are almost always kids for whom schooling is a neccessity but sadly cannot be a priority given their difficult circumstances. Typically this will be orphaned, abandoned, and abused children.

Our drive is to give all children hope and a way to break the poverty cycle using education.
